Found my previous Design Work…

Not as much of it survived as I had hoped, but that’s life. Still, I have enough to answer questions about some of my favorite projects from school, between Isla de Oro, Scrapheap, Doomba, Zeppelin Knife Fight, Long Walk, and a couple of others it’s easy to say I’ve covered a lot of genres and systems.

Going to be posting about it over the next few days, stay tuned. Also, more animation on the way.

Animation Dump!

Been animating a decent amount lately. Haven’t put anything up until this post, but there should be at least ten videos going up in short succession. Primarily done with the Morpheus Rig (https://goo.gl/nFgbbe) and the Norman Rig (https://goo.gl/2Cb66w).

Pistol Draw

Pistol Reload

Pistol Holster

Looped Pistol Shots

Basic Walk Cycle

Full Pistol Sequence

Crouch sequence with grenades

Zombie Walk Cycles

And an old project I want to revisit

Getting right to it

Another clip to add, this one is completely hand keyed on the same rig I used for the mocap data. AUX Effectors are kind of a pain, but they’ll key, so they work for me.

Link Bow Shot

And again, but 8x slower.

Got some short little blurbs showing my expanding skill with motion capture data. Hey, good news, both of my rigs work well with it. Still a few bumps here and there, but I have a much greater understanding of the mocap process and HumanIK than I did even a week ago. Coming soon, functioning props!

My biggest hurdles are behind me…

The Link and Altair rigs are done, barring unforeseen (not in the extensive weight painting tests) problems, I should be able to begin work on the animation for either a short video or a small fighting game.

A link to the future?

The Link HumanIK rig is done. Got the last bits of it sorted out (and discovered which two steps in setup I was utterly unaware of) to the point where it’s ready to go for my projects. That didn’t take too long, if you don’t count the two year break in the middle.

Eureka!

Working on projects off and on, generally more off than on, often leaves you in a position of not knowing what you were thinking when you last transitioned from on to off. I remember being very frustrated with HumanIK and not knowing why it wasn’t working for me. Turns out it was a setting I didn’t know to use, and was thankfully (and finally) shown to me by a college instructor of mine in a video tutorial he made before I even graduated. As a result, the Link rig I have been working on is nearly done, with just a few minor manipulators for props and maybe some weight painting redos if necessary. From here, on to Altair.

Then, they fight.

I’m back, and I’m raring to go.

Wow, been a while, hasn’t it? I recently completed a 2 year project with Google maps, and it didn’t leave me much time to get work on anything else done. I’m getting back to my projects, though, and that means more updates and hopefully some impressive stuff will be showing up. I’ve nearly got the Link rig working, at this point I have a few more things to figure out with the HumanIK setup and to get the hookshot working. Then I’m focusing on the Altair rig. After that, we put them in a whitebox level, animate some moves, and I make a small fighting game that can be enjoyed on my site. (Both models were acquired on Creative Crash, and are not being used to generate income of any kind.)

New Year, new ideas…eventually.

I started working full time for a contracting company at a very renowned map and directions provider, and I got engaged. That’s kept me away from projects for a while. Ooof.

Still working on the Link vs Altair Animation. Demos to come when available.

The chimera from the last update is in need of an overhaul to make the spine react properly when the wings are engaged in flight. Beyond that, it’s nearly done. Cute little bugger.

Rest assured, loyal public, I have not abandoned my work!
